I've been messing with it for the past couple of days since I bought it, and your review I feel is spot on. It's got to be the best plug in I've seen for AE and the render times are amazingly quick compared to what I would have expected with doing this kind of work. Just today alone I have done 3 different sequences using the plugin. Before this plugin I might have gotten the same sequences done in 3 weeks. Great Time Saver!

Video Copilot just released a new plugin for After Effects that is a game changer for working with simple 3D inside after effects. What used to take hours now takes a few seconds. Very powerful plugin that will allow our studio to compete better in the market. The opening sequence of this review took about 30 minutes to put together and should have taken a few hours using camera tracked data exported to Cinema 4D and and a Cinema 4D rendered sequence exported back into After Effects.
But what really shines about this plugin is the ability to tweak your lighting, coloring, texturing and environment maps, in After effects and the fast open GL renderer that shows you everything in realtime. So if you nead to move a light or change a color on something, it happens in seconds -right inside after effects.
It's not going to replace complex animations like characters that are rigged and have facial animations. It's great for static objects that move in a scene.

I'm still amazed with it. My mind is coming up with new ideas the more I play with it. It definitely gives me a leg up on my competitors -that don't have it. I love that I can make quick changes that would otherwise take me hours to do back in a 3D program. This makes directors really happy. I'm going to be starting a job with it tomorrow -can't wait to see how this goes.
Hope you will be able to share what you do with it. I'm like you in amazement over how simple this plugin makes compositing 3d Elements into things. My brain is also racing at the possibilities that seem only limited by the imagination on what this could be used for and with much more efficiency that in the past. I really think that VCP group has truly outdone themselves and the competition with this one. I see this as revolutionizing the industry as a whole. Truly amazing stuff. The best part I think, is that it will pay for itself after one project done for a client. It's definitely worth more in my opinion that what they released it for, but I'm not going to complain about the price and I'm sure it will serve their business well. :)
