- PublicGrowing Up Pt 2
My little girl is usually quite camera shy, though during this shoot she was quite happy to really pose for a few shots. This is one of her own poses, as most would know it is next to impossible to force a set pose on a 3 year old!

Thanks for the comments all. +Bob Gamble, it was just a b&w conversion with a few changes to contrast, clarity and black levels.

- PublicGrowing up
A couple of weeks ago my son celebrated his second birthday. It's such an exciting age as this is the time where our daughter really started to share her personality.
It's so crazy to me how quickly time passes once you have children. Every week brings a new change, a new adventure and often they can be somewhat surprising.
The baby of the house is no longer a baby, but I am very excited to see what lies ahead for our son.

- PublicGoodbye Summer
It's officialy autumn here in Australia and I can't help but think summer just decided to not turn up this year. We've had the crazy tropical storms that are to be expected, but not much of the hot sunny beach weather that we have become accustomed to!
Personally, I would like a refund. Here's hoping autumn is a little more rewarding. This shot was taken last year.
First test of the Fotostat Lightroom plugin!

- PublicReflections of a war photographer
I'm a big fan of TED talks and was surprised I hadn't come across this one before by photo journalist James Nachtwey. The way he speaks of his experiences shows that he cares deeply for the regions in which he takes the photos and for humanity in general.
Well worth the watch.

I hope the slow and steady approach ultimately leads to big dividends for G+. The service gets plenty of criticism for not barrelling towards almost feature parity with facebook - but I for one am fairly happy, and encouraged by the route they've taken.
Its certainly much more palatable for me, being able to tweak what you share with 3rd party apps (down to the circles), rather than facebooks all or nothing approach.

- PublicAnother alternative for community forums offered by Discourse
Late last year I posted about the release of Google+ Communities and how they have the potential to disrupt the ageing forum ecosystem, today we have another player enter the game in Discourse. Created by Jeff Atwood (of Coding Horror and Stack Exchange fame), +Robin Ward , +Sam Saffron and their team, the project is completely open source and has the potential to become the 'WordPress for Forums'.
The product is still in beta and has a ways to go yet but it certainly has potential. There are plans to also provide a paid one-click hosted alternative (much like wordpress.com does), but for now if you are looking to use Discourse you must set it up yourself.
To see it live, check out the sandbox forum @ try.discourse.org

+Jason L. Gatewood, I have come up with a couple of possible ways to go about this but it is too hacky at the moment and requires too much intervention.
Hopefully in time Google will release something like this (or make it more approachable for other developers).

- PublicWhat's in a logo? (and how Fotostat's came to be)
Let me start out by saying that I am not the most graphically talented guy you will ever meet. That is actually quite an understatement. I'm a colourblind, stick-figure drawing, artistically lacking individual. If not for my photography I would dub myself creatively defunct. But you know what? I'm ok with that because it's simply not my calling ...Expand this post »

One of the more common requests we get for +Fotostat is for more networks to be supported. From the beginning we have tried to prioritise the networks we were supporting by their popularity in an effort to help out as many people as possible, but there has been one glaring omission, +Twitter.

Introduction
Who am I?
I am a 29 year old easy going guy with strong interests in software development, photography and the internet. I'm a husband to the love of my life, a father of two beautiful children, and owner of a crazy Golden Retriever.
What can you expect of me on Google+?
If you follow me you will most likely see posts relating to interesting tech news found around the internet. I will also, at times, post on issues I come across in my day to day work as a software developer.
I have also been known to help people around Google+. This social network has become my home so if there is anything I can do to help you along please let me know.
Why have I followed you?
You are interesting to me. You may not even fall under the limited interests I have listed above, but I like your style of writing.
Can I help you with something?
I'm not sure, but feel free to message me to ask me any questions. Time management is a constant struggle for me these days but I will always reply to you eventually.
Side projects
I am a very active developer, lately I have been doing a bit of work involving Google AppEngine and Google+.
Below are just a few items to note.
fotost.at - The central hub where photographers can manage their online presence.
fotoflo.ws - Workflows of notable photographers.
pluss.es - A hosted Google+ blogging platform.
