Dalai Lama: How did the Dalai Lama get around Google's "Real Names" Policy on Google+?

That is his real name.  It is what he is called.  It is his identification. 
Not to be confused with his birth name.

Google isn't being lenient with their policy in his case.

The purpose of the policy is to eliminate fakes.  They have verified that the Dalai Lama you see posting on Google+ is in fact the Dalai Lama. 

Policy should never be taken literally and enforced as such.  The purpose behind any policy is what should be embraced and enforced if it serves the greatest good.
