Google: Why doesn't Google seem to want to get into the hardware business?

Especially now with their new "Chromebook" (http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2...), Google seems to stay away from hardware with phones and even Google TV.

Google is getting into the hardware business: they're working very hard on self-driving cars. The problem with most of the examples you're citing is that they offer too little room for innovation; it's like asking why Bill Clinton or GWB isn't running for State Senate next.
